Forte and Tablada, Inc. served as the civil/site engineers for an expansion of The Oaks, an upscale retirement community located in southeast Shreveport. The entire site consists of approximately 300 acres divided by Sand Beach Bayou. The development on the east side of Sand Beach Bayou (107 acres) includes an entrance boulevard, drives, parking areas, a 5.25-acre lake, water and sewer, and a multi-story residential facility. The improvements included an expansion of the existing skilled nursing facilities, an assisted living facility, a chapel, laundry facility, and maintenance building. A slab-span bridge was constructed across Sand Beach Bayou to allow for future expansion of the retirement campus to the west.
Permitting, surveying, and construction layout services for this development was provided, while coordinating with the owner, Willis-Knighton Health Systems and the various contractors on the site. Forte and Tablada, Inc. submitted a detailed hydraulic report to the City of Shreveport, the Levee Board and the United States Army Corps of Engineers as part of the permitting process for the bridge construction, the design, and also prepared exhibits for a Wetlands Permit Application to the Corps of Engineers that was later accepted.
