Forte and Tablada provided comprehensive Construction Engineering and Inspection (CE&I) services for the LA 18 (Huey P. Long Avenue) Safety Improvements Project, extending from 5th Street to 4th Street in downtown Gretna. The project scope included clearing and grubbing, pavement patching, construction of new concrete sidewalks, and installation of upgraded traffic signalization — designed to enhance pedestrian and vehicular safety in a high-traffic urban corridor.
Forte and Tablada’s CE&I team, composed of experienced engineers, project managers, and LADOTD-certified inspectors, ensured that all construction activities complied with LADOTD standards and project specifications. Our team emphasized quality assurance, traffic control, and coordination to minimize public disruption while maintaining safety compliance in a constrained downtown environment.
Our CE&I responsibilities included:
- Leading and documenting the pre-construction conference to establish clear communication among the Contractor, LADOTD, and the City of Gretna.
- Maintaining detailed construction field records, including daily entries in Headlight and SiteManager documentation.
- Performing daily inspections of construction operations to verify contract compliance and adherence to the intended design.
- Monitoring and enforcing safety and traffic control measures, with special focus on maintaining pedestrian access and minimizing congestion within the urban corridor.
- Recording daily quantities and preparing monthly pay estimates, progress reports, and roject documentation.
- Managing RFIs, Change Requests, and coordination meetings to proactively resolve field issues.
- Conduction Final Inspection, preparing the Punch List, and compiling the As-Built Plans, Form 2059, and Final Estimate Package.
