East Baton Rouge Professional Development Building

This project involved the civil/site engineering design of a 30,000-square foot training facility for the East Baton Rouge Parish School System to be used for professional development trainings and as control center for schools in EBRPSS in the case of an emergency, such as a hurricane or other natural disaster.

Forte and Tablada, Inc. provided the design of a Storm Drainage System including on-site subsurface drainage and plans for the site’s geometry and dimensions, paving and grading, and utilities. The design made use of sustainable construction materials, such as, pervious concrete, which allows precipitation and other moisture to pass directly through to decrease runoff and allow groundwater recharge.

Plans for the building also detail electrical engineering services for connecting existing power lines, a pad-mounted three phase transformer, and an emergency generator, as well as, a fire alarm system, exterior and interior lighting systems with programmable controls, security system, internal network system, cable television system and intercom systems.
