Based on the information received on the proposed demand for the Baton Rouge Zoo, Forte and Tablada, Inc. (formerly PEC) updated the City of Baker’s point of gas supply, route, gas main size and type, location of the regulator/meter station and revised the cost estimate.
The point of the gas supply for the proposed Baton Rouge Zoo gas service was changed from the low pressure gas system (25 psi) to the high pressure (70 psi) gas system due to the gas demand for all 7 phases of improvement. The point of gas supply will be a 6” steel high pressure gas main along Groom Road at the North Magnolia Intersection. This is upstream of the City of Baker’s first regulator station and only 6,200 feet (1.2 miles) from the Acadian Gas Pipeline.
The most direct route is along North Magnolia, to Cypress St., to South Magnolia, to La Hwy. 19 and then to BREC’s entrance drive for the Baton Rouge Zoo. The proposed gas main length was 10,570 feet (2.0 miles). The project also included a gas regulator station.
