Three Baton Rouge Engineering and Tech Companies Merge

BATON ROUGE

Forte & Tablada, Inc. announced it has acquired Engensus, LLC and Engensus Measurements, LLC, two engineering and technology companies also based in Baton Rouge.

The announcement marks the addition of the third and fourth subsidiary companies of Forte and Tablada, Inc., over the past six years. In 2007, the firm acquired Baton Rouge Land Surveying to complement its civil and environmental services, and in 2010, it acquired BBC, a Shreveport-based civil engineering firm that provides the company a northern presence in the state.

A regional staple for more than 50 years in the Baton Rouge engineering community, Forte and Tablada, Inc., offers civil, environmental and electrical engineering. Engensus, LLC, the 2006 Baton Rouge Business Report and Louisiana Business and Technology Center business plan competition winner, adds structural engineering, bridge engineering and risk consulting to the Forte and Tablada menu of services. Engensus Measurements LLC, a company utilizing advanced measurement technologies, brings to the table state-of-the-art 3-D laser scanning and computer modeling, visualization and animation.

The merger was effective January 1, 2013.

“The merger of our companies is strategic on many fronts. At a minimum, we’ve added several major service areas to our Forte and Tablada capabilities with the acquisition, but more importantly, we’ve joined forces with several of Baton Rouge’s young and forward-looking talent,” said Ann Trappey, Forte and Tablada CEO.

The companies have worked together on several projects, including a bridge maintenance prioritization tool for Iberville Parish, effects lighting of LSU’s Tiger Stadium North End Zone, and the design of several local bridges.

“We are excited about the merger; it creates value for our clients, the firm and the state,” Coco said. “The personal relationships are strong, and the potential that we have working together in business is far greater than the potential we have working apart. These are exciting times for our organization.”

Engensus founders Joey Coco and Samuel Amoroso will assume leadership positions at Forte and Tablada, Inc. Coco, a member of the 2011 Baton Rouge Business Report Forty Under 40 class, will become a firm principal along with existing members of the Forte and Tablada, Inc., team. Amoroso, a distinguished Ph.D. civil engineer, will expand the firm’s technical practice.
