Forte and Tablada administered this access management study for the City of Mandeville to improve a heavily traveled corridor in order to provide increased safety for motorists and pedestrians. This corridor has become increasingly traveled and is a hazard to both motorists and pedestrians. Secondary to the prime purpose of increasing safety, these enhancements add beauty to the corridor through adding greenspace in the median.
The study evaluated the existing traffic and geometric data to develop recommended improvement alternatives that included replacing the center lane with a raised earthen median, adding a roundabout at an intersection, adding pedestrian crosswalks, and other roadway features necessary for improved safety and traffic flow. The project was presented to the Mandeville City Council to favorable reviews.
