This project consists of the replacement and/or addition of fire alarms systems in 13 buildings at the Swanson Center for the Youth. Offsite monitoring by a U.L. Listed Central Station along with onsite monitoring with dynamic graphics for the user agency was mutually agreed as the best approach for this project. Wireless RF transceivers were utilized to communicate between the remote buildings and the Central Monitoring System at the facilities’ security center.
During design, Forte and Tablada questioned the possible presence of hazardous materials in the finishes and other components of the various buildings based on information provided by the owner. The design scope of the project was expanded by the owner to include testing in each building for hazardous materials, which was subsequently addressed in the construction documents as abatement in limited areas affected by the installation of the various fire alarm system components.
